Hagworthingham Annual Parish Meeting
Notes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on
Monday 13 April 2026 commencing at 7.00 p.m.
Attendance: With Cllr Mark Clayton in the Chair there were present, four Parish Councillors, two local electors and Parish Clerk Mrs Susan Archibald
The Chairman declared the meeting opened at 7.00 p.m.
1. Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Monday 14 April 2025
It was proposed, seconded and:-
RESOLVED – That the notes of Annual Parish Meeting held on Monday 14 April 2025 be approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.
2. Reports of the Chairman and the Clerk and RFO covering the activities of the Parish Council
The Chairman presented his report of the Parish Council’s activities over the last year, and wished to pay special thanks to Jan Hewitt, Ruth Wisby and Paul Colam-French following their years of service on the Parish Council, and extended a welcome to new Councillors Andrew Bruce and Samantha and Leia Richards, with thanks to his fellow Councillors for their support, particularly Vice-Chairman Cllr Masters, and also his thanks were extended to the Parish Clerk.
He highlighted works carried out to the village with a new noticeboard, defibrillator on Manor Road and the ongoing support for grass cutting around the village and in the Church yard. Thanks were once again extended to David Powell for his work in rotating the speed device.
The meeting received a report of other Parish Council activities and Parish Council finances from Clerk and RFO Mrs Susan Archibald, as follows:-
The Clerk reported that the Parish Council met 6 times in the 2025/26 municipal year, with healthy finances and current earmarked and general reserves totalling c.£13,000.
She reported that the precept had been reduced by £500 for the coming year and that grass cutting at the Church would once again be supported by donation this year, along with the usual programme of village grass cutting.
3. To receive reports of County and District Councillors
The Clerk advised that no reports had been received.
4. To highlight two vacancies to be filled by Co-Option
The Clerk highlighted that there were still two vacant seats on the Parish Council available for co-option of eligible candidates.
5. Any reports of local charities and community groups
Hagworthingham PCC
Andrew Bruce reported that a new PCC was in place at the Church with two new Wardens elect.
Friends of Hagworthingham
He further reported that the FOH had carried out 26 activities over the year, including bingo, quizzes and the subsidised panto trip.
Proposed Acquisition of The George and Dragon for the Community
Allen Howe updated the meeting on the moves being made to put together a proposal to acquire the George and Dragon for the community to provide, amongst other things, food and drink, social spaces, business hub, warm space and CVS health care activities.
Allen was thanked for his informative presentation and all present expressed their support.
