The historic village of Hagworthingham nestles on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The important and beautiful Snipe Dales Country Park is adjacent and Hagworthingham is situated approximately equidistant from the market towns of Horncastle, Alford and Spilsby.
Though the main arterial route to the coast, the A158, runs through the village, its geography is unimpaired. A walker's paradise! Whether you are a walker or not, you have a choice in Hagworthingham - a full sized hot meal; a bowl of home-made soup; a cuppa and some home-made cake. You will find a variety of good quality meals and snacks in the village and places to dwell a while.
Off the beaten track and within the village is Holy Trinity Church which is probably Saxon. The font is 13th century. In 1859 the church was extensively altered (it is said by some that it was desecrated in fact!) by Fowler. The pews are a 'modern' addition (probably Victorian). Originally and for most of its history, there would have been no formal seating at all. It was a building that was open and the whole community and its animals would use it frequently. During the 1970’s the tower collapsed.
Historically, Hagworthingham had been self-sufficient with shops The Oldrid empire was started here. Now, within the village, there is an old established second hand furniture and household goods shop and two cafes, as well as the pub. When we are able to, many social events take place in the village. The village also has its own local magazine, “The Village Voice” which continues to go from strength to strength advertising and promoting the village.
