Holy Trinity church

Mid-nineteenth century alterations to the Church

The church was extensively altered by Fowler in 1859. He was an extremely well known Victorian architect who altered, some would say, desecrated, churches in Lincolnshire during the Victorian era. Their remit was to 'tidy' churches up when in fact they destroyed centuries of architecture. Known colloquially as just 'Fowler' he was not afforded the courtesy of any title. Whenever Lincolnshire churches are referred to, Fowler's name invariably crops up!
