Hagworthingham Annual Parish Meeting
 
Notes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on 
Monday 14 April 2025 commencing at 7.00 p.m.
 
Attendance: With Cllr Jan Hewitt in the Chair there were present,
three Parish Councillors and Parish Clerk Mrs Susan Archibald 
The Chairman declared the meeting opened at 7.00 p.m.
 
1. Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting held on Monday 8 April 2024
 
It was proposed, seconded and:-
RESOLVED – That the notes of Annual Parish Meeting held on Monday 8 April 2024 be approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.
 
2. Reports of the Chairman and the Clerk and RFO covering the activities of the Parish Council 
The Chairman presented her report of the Parish Council’s activities over the last year, and wished to pay special thanks to Edmund Done following his years of service on the Parish Council, and to her fellow Councillors for their support and also her thanks were extended to the Parish Clerk. 
 
She highlighted works carried out to the village furniture; new percher seats in the bus shelter, ongoing grass cutting around the village and support of the Church with a donation to its grass cutting expenses. Speed was still a problem and thanks were once again extended to David Powell for his work in rotating the speed device.  It was hoped that Community Speedwatch exercises and litter picking parties could resume this Summer. 
 
The meeting received a report of other Parish Council activities and Parish Council finances from Clerk and RFO Mrs Susan Archibald, as follows:-
The Clerk reported that the Parish Council met 8 times in the 2024/25 municipal year, with healthy finances and current earmarked and general reserves totalling c.£10,000.
 
She reported that the precept remained at £7,324.15 for 2025/26, and the grass cutting at the Church would once again be supported by donation this year, along with the usual programme of village grass cutting.
 
She further reported that a new village noticeboard at Manor Road had been ordered and was being produced by the Men’s Shed.
 
Note:  Due to Purdah restrictions in force there were no reports of District and County Councillors or the Police.
 
 
3. To highlight two vacancies to be filled by Co-Option 
 
The Clerk highlighted that there were still two vacant seats on the Parish Council available for co-option of eligible candidates, and applications were invited, with qualifying terms available to view on the website.
 
4. Any reports of local charities and community groups
 
The Dales Charity
 
Cllr Hewitt reported that Christmas hampers had once again been distributed.  She updated the meeting on the merger of the smaller Charities into one Charity with the new, additional, Trustees being Ruth Wisby and Paul Colam-French. The charity remains to assist those in need in the village and all help given remains strictly confidential.  It has also expanded its aims to include support for village activities and events of benefit to the whole community.
 
 
5. Open forum
 
The recruitment of volunteers to both Community Speedwatch and Litter Picking was discussed with the village leaflet being distributed shortly to all local properties highlighting the need for willing individuals to come forward.
